I also start on aug 8th here at the richmond terminal, i hope its not hard for us locals to get a mentor. I live not even 10 mins from the terminal. Hope to meet you guys.
I wish both of you the best, pay attention in orientation lots of important information, ask questions, I'm a mentor out of richmond, when u get a mentor if y'all don't get along just ask for another metor, that might extend your training and it will be a lot less stressful. Some mentor do a great job some don't, some student are great some are not, but over all learn as much as you can, be legal and be safe. P.S I'm not a swift rep I just do what I'm suppose to, give me miles keep my truck moving and leave me a lone...
Hey thanks baker-this is a new career for me and a lifestyle change and the family is depending on me to be safe and run legal-mom ,and dad and brother and uncles were all truck drivers so i guess it's in the blood-thanks for the info so far as mentors are concerned i can pretty much get along with anyone just so long as i'm trained properly and safely.
Same for me, closest thing i have to truck driving is 5 yrs exp as a jockey for Wal-Mart and i am currently at Food Lion. I am 2 yrs into a marriage with a 5 month old son. So i picked a good time to become a trucker. Basically want the job for experience to get something local. But if Swift treat me right i might jus stay. My main goal is to get my own truck. oc83baker, do you know if you willl be training out of our class?
