RUN,RUN,RUN dont walk, run from this company. Your profile says your a student which means you can be expected to do a minimum of 250-300 hrs of training. HOWEVER what they wont tell you is no matter what you signed up for during the application process you may not get that run and also that 250-300 can easily last up to 400 or 500 hours and even then they may not have a run for you or even a truck they have to fire someone in order to get you a truck. You will be given the option to stay onboard that truck for low pay and be expected to run a team without the pay, or you can go home till something comes up but after 30 days you are automatically placed in the status of voluntary quit.

This is simply FYI. I've read this same statement over and over on this forum concerning not getting a truck after training. I'm currently posting from my trainers truck right now. I ended up firing my first trainer (long story) but he mentioned that he had a few students that had to do 60 extra hours but they all got trucks right away afterwords. He also mentioned those students were ones who didn't get the most flattering review from him.
My new trainer (whom I feel blessed to have) is a million mile accident free trainer that has been training for Werner for 13 years now. He told me not one of his students (that he passed
) have waited longer than a week for there own truck and he has never had any students send back on his truck for additional training. I'm near 200 hours completed now but I will let everyone know how long I wait or if I get stuck doing extra hours. I'm just putting what I've heard out there... In fact my current trainer has been getting phone calls from his last student (that got off his truck a week and a half ago) with questions about his SECOND load already.

This is exactly what happened to me in October. I never got a truck. I was taken "out of the system" after 30 days of being on leave. I called every couple days to find out about getting a truck.
I'm still unemployed. I've put in applications to every trucking company I could find that would take a 21 year old with no experience (aside from the 2 months on the road with my Werner trainer).
I don't know what to do... -
Can you go back to Werner? It's fairly obvious those who stay out training get first priority for trucks. Beats sitting home anyway. At 21 you're not going to have much luck elsewhere. When you're 23 you'll have 2 years experience, not to be taken lightly!

I finished training doing about 30hrs over the 275..... tested out / got my truck the next day and the day after I had my 1st load.
They even got me home for thanksgiving eventho I got my truck 2 days before 450 miles from where i lived. -
I'm going to contact them on Monday to find out if I can get rehired. I'll have to go through everything again but I don't care it's worth it at this point. I still have no job and I want to get back out on the road really bad. If they can't get me a truck when I complete my hours then I'll stay on it until they can. If I had known this was going to happen months ago, I would have stayed on the truck with my first trainer back then.

I just spoke to my previous trainer on the phone. I've been in touch with him ever since I left the truck a few months ago. He gave me some of his information to give to the recruiter when I talk to them and also if it'd be possible, we'd both like for me to get back on his truck for the training period again. The odds of that are unlikely. His current student should finish training within 2-3 weeks, and if he actually gets off the truck at that time, there is a possibility his dispatcher could get him to the Allentown, PA terminal to get off the truck and let me on. Again, highly unlikely but still a possibility.
It's Sunday but their website says their recruiting dept is open from 9am to sometime in the afternoon on Sundays, so I'm going to try and give them a call in about 15 minutes here to see what I can find out. -
Do let us know.

They denied my application for rehire. I have no idea why. They wouldn't tell me and I wasn't allowed to ask.
To hell with this industry. I'm 21 years old and I've got plenty of time to find something better than this.
Next on the list is probably law enforcement.
Good luck truck drivers.
