I keep going thru these el cheapo OS flags on the wooden sticks. Anybody have a link or info on where I can get a good set?? I've seen some on metal rods with cloth flags. That would be preferred.

I use the cheapo ones that are mesh, they seem to do better in the wind but you also cant see them as well as the others. I will keep my eyes peeled for what you are talking about.

Haven't hauled but one load last year the rates in Al. sucked on od stuff less than 3.00 a mile. -
Oversize warning products company sells the better flags and mounting kits. They're the ones you can find at the Iowa 80 group, however you can buy from them direct at less cost. Don't remember their website, probably just google "oversize warning products"
SHC Thanks this. -
Rags and rod flags will last a bit longer than el cheapo plastic flags, best part is the rod and rags can be redone with shop rags if you can purchase the correct dimensional size shop rags. 18x18 shop rags can be sewn together to make it stronger and placed on the rod and last three times longer than store flags.
If you can find a boat upholstery shop they can make them out of canvas, also have a look around at those cloth shops since sometimes the remnants and left overs are available for making your own flags.
The flag poles that are made out of electrical conduit is the way I made my own guide staffs, you can find that easy at any box hardware store.Last edited: Apr 27, 2012

We buy the flags that are on hardwood sticks, not those cheap softwood sticks. I think we buy the flags, the heavy duty os banners and our tarps all from the same place, Midwest Industrial Sewing in Weston, Wi.

The oversize warning products flags that are mounted on a small bungee with 2 hooks do well and hold up well. You can get them at the Iowa 80 truckwashes. The cheapest is to buy direct. Do not buy the ones from the Petro they are junk. As far as the flags on the wood stick secure the stick as close to the flag as possible that way the stick will not snap off. I always laid the stick flat on the deck of my trailer near a stake pocket and wrapped a bungee around the pocket and the stick. If you try and stand the stick straight up and down the stick will snap off almost every time.

I'm just looking for the flags on sticks. I'm good with the plain flags. Looking for something that will hold up good. I have the hardwood and mesh ones now and they last about 2 trips and they are shredded.
I'll look into that website suggested. -
Two trips? I have used the same four flags(two front two rear) since January, one or two loads a week.
