How are you doing meals with no fridge? Truck stop fast food everyday would make me sick.

I think he’s talking about linehaul for Estes. Those drivers sleep in hotels or bunkhouses a lot.

If thats the case, id think a cooler is the best bet. You can find a plug in 12v one, or old school with ice. If you go old school watch for sales on gallon sized freezer bags to keep food dry, dont use "storage" ziplocks, they tend to leak about half the time. You can use ice packs or freeze some water bottles so you dont have to be buying ice everyday and keep the cooler dry on the inside.

Ain't in a daycab but don't have a fridge or microwave..
I eat fast food junk couple times a week, then usually find a bar/grill, mexican joint, choke & puke, greasy spoon of some sort the other 4-5 nights.. You got a smartphone with google maps right? Use the sat view find places you can sneak that rig in..

i didn't do very well; Whatever was open that late at night on the NJ or PA turnpikes...

i don't know if you have WAWA's in your area, but it's trash.

It will take some planning to eat right doing OTR daycab. (Not to mention daytime daycab; Local drivers don't necessarily get to eat healthy either). i'll report back if i ever get around to it.

Alot of the restaurants that used to be open 24 hours arent any more. There are about 20 mcdonalds within about half an hour from me, probably 6 of them used to be open late night, its down to 1 now. It was really frustrating when i was working late shift, get out after midnight and there was only 1 option left open until places started opening for breakfast. Even the gas stations are rarely open 24 hours now.

So my very short time at ABF I either A. Didn't eat or B. Packed an insulated lunch box with some water and maybe some snacks and that was my meal. I figured sitting in the truck and hotel room all day I didn't need to eat much.

That being said usually that led to me being malnutrition at the end of my run and because I lived 70 miles from the terminal and had to buy gas every other day I would stop into the truck stop next to the terminal and buy a tube of Pringles and a Candy Bar and eat those on the way home. Terrible habit to get into. I'm on the other side of that right now and actually am going to go out and work in the yard to get some exercise.

I bring enough 1/2 ltr bottles of water and a big thermos of black coffee. Plus I bring packs of tuna, salmon, herring etc that don’t need to be refrigerated plus raw almonds and single packs of pickles or olives to get me through. I gain weight at home not on the road lol. Yea I know my choice of food is pretty bland but I see food simply as fuel during the week in the truck. I’m in my 50’s and take zero meds and wear the same size pants I did in high school. On the weekends with the family I eat whatever the families eating. Works for me.
