Well as much as I'm liking being otr my days may be numbered. I found out my GF may be pregnant with my first child. We aren't sure yet and need to schedule a doc appointment as she had her tubes tied with her last child but it was only guaranteed for 10 years. She is 41 with some medical problems and scared to death. I am 35 and this being my first child I am excited as hell. If so then I'm hoping to finish my year contract with PAM then hopefully find a local job as I refuse to be one of those absentee fathers that misses all their childs milestones.
I have some contacts in the local trucking industry and hopefully can get a job with 1 year experience by 'knowing someone'.
otr days may be numbered

I hope that it works out for you Digger.
Jarhed1964 Thanks this. -
Well one good thing is that being in PA there should be ample enough local driving gigs. I didn't catch who you run for now but they may have a regional or local position in PA.
-
PAM may have a local/regional gig for you... check it out.
-
Yeah I can check. I'm hoping for something to have me home every day. A good friend is good friends with the CEO of a large PA gas station/convenience store chain and said she can probably get me a job hauling dry van, reefer, or fuel tankers for them.

There is always plenty of jobs hauling coal too. Many options for you though.

Congrats on the 1st kid! Hope everything works out for ya. Stay safe.

Make sure you get a good examination from the doctors....after having her tubes tied...that increases some risks........just a forewarning for you.
You need to be very supportive for her....she will really need you for this!sammycat Thanks this. -
Good luck Gravdigger and what Otter said.
At her age and having her tubes tied getting pregnant was something she probably never thought would happen! (trust me I think the same things sometimes!!) Just be there and listen or talk or what ever...
I hope it all works out for you and I will keep you all in my thoughts!!!otherhalftw Thanks this. -
Increased risks after having her tubes tied is the least of her worries, all of her kids had to be born c-section, her birth canal is too narrow for normal birth. Because of this she has several hernias that need operated on. She is also diabetic and has....CPOD I think it is. So lots of hurdles to jump, if she actually is pregnant that is. We still aren't sure yet.
otherhalftw Thanks this.
