Having been leased to Watkins-Shepard I can't say that I ever was and company drivers either. All I ever did was tell them how long it would take, if something hapened I called in and told them and if Weather was bad say in NE I could reroute through another way. They were honest, hard woking and good people at WS and I'd go back if it weren't for being disabled in a farm tractor rollover.

That's exactly why I gave you the answer I did, DeerHunter, and I'm glad you see it for what it is. Yes, companies will try this on drivers and it serves two purposes; to get them off the hook and to see if you'll run outlaw. Neither is good for you because it won't be the last time they try it if you do it and if you get caught, oh well it's on you and fire you for driving illegal if something does happen.

Your priority has to be take care of yourself and your license and that means documenting these things to CYA. That means running legal as you point out.

    Good Luck

I've done plenty of JIT loads, and I do understand how critical it is to get it there on time.
If I can't do it in the time allotted I turn down the load.
But the JIT loads usually have plenty of time to get them there, sometimes a bit too much time and I end up sitting on it for a day.

I didn't read all the pages.

But in my short time out, Fresh Express gives about 1 or 1.5 hours extra for loads. The name says it all, EXPRESS!

Sometimes I was called in to get a load like that, four hours after the pickup time!!!!!!!!!

If it is your first year out, just send in your ETA and suck it up. Expect 4, 8 or more hours sitting in the dock.

Worse is when you arrive on time and the shipper is running 12, or 20 hours behind! That means you won't even be loaded before your delivery time!!!!!!!

    Get a CB and whine!

wow... I really hit a nerve with a few... I'm not telling anyone they should drive over their 11 if they are unsafe to do so, merely pointing out my observations that some drivers gripe and moan that they were told they had to drive over their hours to make a delivery, but unable to do so within their 11 hrs, stop at the truckstop for their 10 off.. Thats great, follow the letter of the law, there's absolutely nothing wrong with that, I'm not talking trash, or being "condescending" to anyone if that is what they are going to do.

I'm not even going to address the nonsense, but it is pretty funny that some people get SOOO worked up over something that someone on the internet said. Probably get in shouting matches on the CB too huh?
