It's not complicated at all the market is what keeps downward pressure on rates and wages. Trucking is not that difficult to get into and the less specialized any part of it is naturally the rates/wages will be worse.

Some people think they are called to save the world AND the world wants to be saved by that one person. I think we call those people Karens.

I try not to think of it in terms of hourly or compartmental. If I run hard and I have a good week, I can make $3000. Of course I end up with about half of that after all the deductions. But I do contribute quite a bit to my 401(k). So I’ll look at it like where else am I gonna go and what else am I gonna do that? To make $3000 in a week? Now that’s not every week. Most weeks around $2000. Yes, I live on a truck and I live out on the road. And yes I put in a lot of my own time and yes, I babysit equipment and freight and I understand the whole dynamic but it’s all compact in one setting for us. That’s the benefit. You’re not having to go out and work three different jobs. You don’t have to commute home and then commute to another job to make that kind of money. It’s all in your truck and all out on the road. And every once in a while, if you’re lucky, you get to get off of that truck and do something fun. Also, if you’re smart, you can set yourself up to keep your bills down very and you can save money really quick and set yourself up to do something else if you want. I don’t look at it in terms of $21 an hour. Everyone makes $20 an hour or more now.
