BECAUSE Driver...to most of the steering wheel holders out there with attitudes that they are the best truck driver that has ever graced Gods green earth, they believe that "flashy thingamajiggy" is an optional use device. They wasn't trained properly, their momma didn't raise em right, whatever, but they just plain refuse to drive properly and ##### out people who catch them doing wrong and generally acting like an ###. If it were up to me, I'd love to see legislation passed to the effect that "all" drivers, whether they be CDL holders or just plain old everyday 4 wheelers have to take all the written exams, AND, I mean AND, take a skills test every 2 years minimum to keep their license. If you fail...oh well, guess your out of a job and can't go to Walmart, whatever case it may be. I firmly believe current rules and laws should be enforced harder and fines should be stiffer for all, not just us "truckers". I'd laugh my ### off the first time I see Joe Q Public Mr/Mrs 4 wheeler lose the right to drive because they failed a common sense driving test. If you thought you would lose your license, you would pay more attention and act right. Too many #### people think its a right to drive and not a priveledge. Once somebody gets a license, they get into habits, ruts, and generally forget everything they learned in drivers ed, ect. I know it won't happen, but a man can dream.

also when you use them remember to turn them off

I had a bulk tanker in misting rain slide back over in front of me with every bit of 4 feet from his dot bumper to my nose and not a singal blink. His lights weren't even ON.
And I know by the truck that he is nowhere near as green as I am.
That stuff gets to me too. -
I see a lot of drivers get back over way too soon. Or pull out way too late, IMO. A four wheeler or another truck is coming up on them and then all of the sudden they jump out there. I hold my breath every time I see it.
I was lost a couple months ago and had called my brother to have him try and look up where the heck I was. He was telling me where I needed to exit at and said like "take exit 75". I was like, oh s@#t, that's right here and glanced in the mirror and took the exit. Immediately someone came over the CB chewing my rear cause I didn't signal. I replied that I had my head up my ####.
Only time I've ever turned and didn't signal. Usually I turn my blinker on and give it a few seconds just to make sure no one is going to be speed racer along side my rig. -
Here in CA I use mine all the time....and after the first week remembered to shut them off lol. Just because they are on does not mean people in the bay area are going to let me make a lane change. I hate forcing my way over and becoming the idiot trucker that everyone has us labelled as, but I am not going to take the wrong freeway in the wrong direction at an interchange because some 4 wheelers would not let me over 2 miles ago.
I have a job to do.
Sorry, end of mini rant. I really appreciate turn signals and therefore use mine whenever needed.MackDaddyMark Thanks this. -
It was the horror of not having turn signals or 4 ways that led to my truck stop accident at 2 or 3 weeks out.
GOTTA have 'em!!! -
That's the way I am. Remember the old driver that would slap you behind the head if you didn't use them correctly? I don't know if you went to a school or not but I was taught by the old hands because schools had a very bad reputation back in the early 70's when I first started driving. They didn't put up with alot of stupid moves.

i train, my students use signals or they dont drive my truck,as for all the steering wheel holders,we were all one of those at one time.when you see a driver not using signals, mention on the c/b that hey such and such i think your trailer signals arent working, thats about all you can do,at least you will feel a little better about pointing out their non professionalism in a sarcastic manner,of course if the wheel holder has his c/b on

That's what I say! Or I say " I guess you're turning, eh?"
