OTR: Hometime? Negotiable?

I am in a bind: I want to train and drive with a good company for all the obvious reasons... But the companies with the best reputations for for things like safety/quality of training/not screwing drivers all advertise frequent hometime...

I really am looking to just live out of the truck for my first couple of years, so that I can maximise my earnings nad not have to pay rent for a home I will see infrequently in any case. I am single, no kids, and I wouldn't be getting into this buisness if I hadn't had an ***full of Philly already...

Is it usually negotiable to be routed home LESS often? Two days in Philly every second or third week seems pointless to me... I would much rather have a week or more off duty (wherever I might be) every couple of months...

Additional point: Since I don't care for hometime and I want to get into the RIGHT company SOONEST, is it possible to convince a company to hire me for a home terminal that I do not live near?

If the job I want is hiring in a differrant state, might I take it at the cost of hometime and still use my mom's house in PA as a mailing adress? I realise that I can't have a PO box as a home adress, since most states won't accept this for a liscence and I have to be liscenced in my "official" home state... or do I?

 

Yeah... a house... Or 15+ acres of remote Canadian tundra with concertina-wire fence and attack gophers...
