Good consistent work should be about double that. It also depends what you're doing. Dry van is going to be the lowest in revenue usually compared to other trailers. 12k revenue a month after their cut is about $500 a day? That's not very much. You can go drive for someone or work construction or something for almost that much a day with no expenses or headaches...

Everyone thinks they will get rich being a o/o too . Reminds me of a young indian fellow at work . decides to buy an old 2018 freightliner company truck during the height of covid when trucks were at an all time high because of equipment shortages. Truck had like 700-800.000 km and the idiot buys it for $110k at 12% interest. his thinking was being a o/o would allow him to make enough to buy a house . Guess what now he regrets being a o/o and can’t sell it because he owes more then it’s worth at over 1million kms . says he’s going to pay it off and do something else besides trucking . Like i said to him before when he told me he had a 14k bill . it’s money in money out with being a o/o and you just hope you can grab some of it as it flys byLast edited: Sep 6, 2025 at 8:36 AM

In Ontario, Canada you just have to simply look around and everything you see speaks for it's self. It's become a joke here and 90% of these carriers who are crooked know each other and try to share the same schemes amongst each other. Plan as day nothing hidden. A few months ago I was thinking of parking my truck and driving for someone again because rates were so low I'm actually glad I didn't when averaging out the work load vs pay. The corruption in Ontario, Canada is at an all time high. These companies are surviving the Freight Recession and Tariffs issues by Scamming and Schemes with the drivers they hire. If the load is paying $2000 and the driver was suppose to get 25%, they simply pay the driver $390 (save themselves 5.5% on the front end) and make it seem as though that drivers getting the best rate running hard for that carrier.
Inflation has hit an all time high so Carriers are going to save at the drivers expense. Higher lines of credit are being used while most carriers large or small are running at a lost or working off lines of credit. Everyone is waiting for the storm to clear. I personally believe that we are in the eye of the storm and things could get a little rougher or clear up by 2026. However, cash flow is a necessity. That Florida accident as sad as it was opened a lot of minds in the U.s. and Canadian government now having to stop ignoring the Elephant in the room as big and massive as it is. More safety blitz, border inspection etc. Will occur and at the Trucking Industry on both sides of the border will balance out eventually so the Trucking companies with integrity will easy up on scheming the hard working drivers they have. However, some will Only operate that way because that's all they know regarding their setup in order of being profitable.cascadia4life and Carpenter Scotty Thank this. -

If you are not looking at reselling the truck, and you are not overpaying for it, then in my opinion an older unit can be a solid choice too. But I am receptive to the reasons of why It might not be the path to go according to you. -
AS FOR taking advantage of us they do on a bunch of stuff like they always did. LolNorthEastTrucker Thanks this. -
I can't help myself but I gotta ask, " Do you have enough put away to cover the upcoming rebuild or replacement"?
