Get serious . There are drivers that never drove OTR and went much further in their career driving regional or local than most of these newbies trying to start OTR will ever do .

Well, I was solo for almost 4 years before I decided to go team with my boyfriend (he has 10 yrs exp) With these new hos regs and so we could see each other more often, it was a good option. Do I recommend teaming? No. I made decent money solo. Anything less then $500 bring home was only because I took days off. When teaming, u dont get decent sleep at all. We had to use sleeping pills for the first few months to get any. The roads suck and I haven't found a truck that has enough airbags on it to help. Been teaming now for 2 years and usually get maybe 5 to 6 hours of sleep if im lucky. And 48 cents a mile is hard to find for teams unless u are doing hazmat/specialized. And its usually **up to .48** its a load of crap for teams.

When u add in the money u spend on the road and everything, u will find that u make more money doing regional or local. If only we can get paid hourly otr

At 0.24 cpm you must run 5000 miles minimum in 7 days (eventually your 34 hr reset will stop you both); that is a gross of 1,200.00 for you. Take out your numbers for ,Insurance and anything you need to take out, including road expenses. You will see that it is simple math, you will be making as if you were Solo, with the aggravating things that involves to drive with a "partner". **Just presented a "Minimun". ** The Company has to be in a good position in order to provide 7000 miles in a week to allow you to make higher numbers.
** If you still decide to go "Team" ; then Check "Secured Land Transport" (Team, runs ammunition and explosives division)p34ch3s Thanks this. -
People who don't understand team pay....makes me want to slap them.
You can have your 35 cpm and think you're making more than 48 cpm teaming. Not even close.
As for teaming with strangers, I've had about 50/50 when it comes to good and bad team mates. The bad came when they couldn't do their share.p34ch3s and AndrewMemphis Thank this. -

Id rather run solo as not worry about sleeping when some else is driving. You really feel safe when some else is driving a 80,000lb truck? Not me lol.CondoCruiser Thanks this. -
Besides putting your life in a strangers hands I use to hate having to wake up to eat. I just want coffee when I wake up and not a buffet. How about we stop when I am hungry and I'll wake you up!
