Florida will want proof of residence. They specify the types of proof they require on the dmv website. I had to get a relative to write a letter saying I lived with her.

I'd link you to the sites an forums, but I don't wish to break any rules on such here, an I'm far to lazy at the moment to go read the rules to see if I'd be breaking them..ha.
I think Florida would be a bigger pain of the four states I mentioned. I know if I want local pricing on Disney passes, I need a local address an a bill in my name. I'll just visit once a year, an stay here on my lil piece of the Atlantic.
I no longer full time in a rv, but plan to again in the future. Texas or South Dakota will be where my "residence" is tho.
Good luck an the Escapee' folks are good people, lots of good info which I'm sure would be useful to some of you folks.

Do you actually have to own an RV or can you just say you do? I remember one guy registered his old clunker pickup truck.
I read where some out of state oil field workers used Escapees so they wouldn't have to pay state income taxes in their home state.Last edited: Sep 2, 2017
Sirscrapntruckalot Thanks this. -
Crazy. I had the same question today I was going to ask. If you live in the truck then would you use a PO BOX on your CDL? I ask because once I start earning a paycheck I'd like to move to another state.

You should look into that group suggested. Or the one I posted a link to. They take care of everything. They even forward mail for you to where you want, when you want it there. It does come at a cost. It's a heck of alot cheaper than paying rent somewhere.

@Chinatown I'm going to post this link(mods if not allowed or whatever...feel free to edit) as it can probably explain the process a bit more then I can.
This is for claiming Texas as your "domicile" state. If you want to do the dakotas the process is similar..but different. Florida...well it's Florida. Heh.
Here's the link it'll take you to the Escapee's rv site an right to the page with the process of doing this in Texas. https://www.escapees.com/resource-center/domicile-info/texas-domiclie-information
Any further questions...feel free to ask if I can answer I shall, an if not...those folks there are very helpful an are usually always willing to help or point you in the right direction for the info.
Again if I'm not supposed to post a link...feel free to edit my post if need be.
Good luck, an ya'll be safe out there, ya hear?

Bleh...sorry for the double post.
The post Chinatown quoted by Westernplains...those are the companies I was trying to think of in the Dakotas. They are very easy to work with from my understanding. South Dakota is the next most popular after Texas for the full time rv crowd far as home state goes.
Just like the ones in the post by Westernplains, Escapees will handle the process for you if you need them to, as will most companies familiar with this type of life style.
Again good luck...an ####, I'm awfully chatty tonight. Haha!
