I need input from O/O regarding new video surveillance technology. I'm NOT trying to sell anything. I just need info regarding whats important to the OTR driver in regards to a on board video surveillance system designed with 4 cameras to cover the perimeter of the rig (or mounted only on the tractor... two facing front, and two facing rear with NO inside the cab coverage) to document the actions of the smaller vehicles around you. This system will also be able to be viewed live... from any smartphone or computer... anytime, anywhere! Remember, I'm not trying to sell this because I'm developing it as we speak..... I NEED INPUT! Thanks!

2 facing the rear to look at the trailer?
a system like this would be a little pricey no? I know some get dash cams but not sure how many would fork over money for a whole surveillance system -
I would pay for something like that up to about 2 thousand and maybe 50 a month max.
I already have drivecam but the footage is poor quality and only covers in front of cab. -
The system you are describing already exist. I have been researching a 4 camera setup for a while now and feel the best one on the market is the Windshield Cam system (http://windshieldcam.com/). It runs about $2195 for the 4 camera setup.
DoneYourWay Thanks this. -

100's of them made for the RV peoples, plenty of room to sell to the trucking crowd still.

im a company driver so i dont spend money on the truck, I guess it could come in handy for some owner ops, any of the o/o's here get discounts with insurance for their cameras they have already?

We have a couple owner operators who have 4 camera setups and they each didn't spend $1000.00 to set them up.

Yeah I probably could of turned in at least 20 people during the 400 miles I drove tonight lol
A camera in the back would be nice, there are wireless systems but I dont think you can get them to reach over 60 feet, plus if you forgot to remove it well crap you just lost your camera.
