Your not entirely accurate with your assessment of your first day at Kirkwood. How do I know this? Because I'm one of the instructors that runs the Monday night class. First of all, you stated yourself that you were up at 8am right, and that you left at 9:30pm. 12 hours of being up bombarded with information do you really think much of the info you were given was retained? The reason we only do a quick tour of the truck is to let you see first hand what you saw on the power point presentation. Which brings me to the next thing. If you would do some research you will find that adult learners are different then K-12. It is proven with studies that adult learners retain info much better by writing then just being handed something already done, ie already typed out like you mentioned. I also teach the pre trip inspection class in the am. I will concede that alot of the pre trip part of the course is dependant on the student's study habits, but if you think about it, we instructors can't be there holding your hand through the test so why do it in class. Can we read your mind as to how you are getting along with learning it? Of course not. The PTI instructors are there to help you with getting the terminology down and what the dot expects. I was probably one of your instructors and I assure you had you mentioned something all possible courses of action to help you along with learning it would of been explored. And your statement about not having a scheduled lunch time is also inaccurate, eating is allowed in the classroom as long as it isn't a buffet and lunch is from 12:15 to 12:45pm everyday. Is Kirkwood a perfect school? No it isn't, but I assure you in MY humble opinion we strive for it everyday. I welcome any and all questions , comments, whatever. Ask anyone that has been through my class and they will tell you that I tell it like it is. In closing, I would ask that you think about one thing. CRST sets it's standards as to what it wants out of the two weeks that their students are at Kirkwood, we have no control over that. I am not speaking on behalf of Kirkwood, everything that I typed on here is my opinion and my opinion only.

I'm sorry if what I wrote on here offended you. It was not my intention. I never said Kirkwood was good or bad, I just wanted to put information out there that I couldn't find. I specifically stated at the end of my "report" for people to do their OWN research. I wanted people to know what to expect, good or bad. Facts are facts and that was exactly what I wrote!

It's unfortunate that you had a bad experience at Kirkwood. For what it's worth , I do apologize for that. I wasn't offended, you are entitled to your opinion. I hope that you have a wonderful career in trucking or whatever your chosen path is and God bless !

Day 13 (Saturday)
Starting to feel more fatigued and irritated. The schedules are crazy! Why can't we just go in at the same time everyday? I understand that we need to drive in different circumstances (day/night, busies time/least busiest time), but I'm exhausted!
Sorry, I wrote that early this morning, but I thought it was kind of funny. Anyway, we got to Kirkwood at 5:50am. We were split up and put with a trainer. I had 2 other people in my truck and my husband had 1 other person in his. All we did was drive the CDL route over and over again. The people in my truck got to drive the route twice, since there were 3 trainees and only 7 hours. In my husbands truck they each made 4 rounds. We left at 12:25pm.'

Because trucking does not have a set in stone hours . It's 24/7/365 And if your gonna pull a reefer, prep yourselfs for some only mornings, or late at night appoinments.
