Which BB is that in the picture? I was on USS New Jersey (BB-62), for 2 years.

USS Iowa... Ive always liked battle ships. I wanted to join the navy when I was younger just to be on one... but theyve been retired for some time. I was gonna join the marines or air force but right now I cannot pass the weight requirement.

Just a little history for all who dont know or follow any other threads I have

Well for starters I have been with YRC now for about a year. I started last year at a satellite terminal for P/D only. It wasnt a terrible year and they did have me work quite often so they days I didnt, I never cared as It gave me time to do some things I cant do while working. I made decent pay at first, got all my bills together that I was behind in, managerment was decent, and I was still considered a casual till my made the union list after a 100 work days. At first it was all going smoothly, then once the time came when I was on probation my boss started harassing me (Terminal Manager) Although the asst term manager/dispatcher really liked me and would even fight for me if needed, couldnt go to the union because I was not on list. From what I know they wanted to get rid of me before so they dont have to pay benefits on me. But whatever, the asst knew id get the work done no matter what.

After the steward left, the asst manager gave me his old tractor, which was a shocker because they make all the new guys drive the junk heap straight trucks. At that time i was already on the list, they gave me better runs, made a lot of overtime. Then I was put on soft layoff, the first two days I was back they didnt have me in my truck, but I had asked to please use it again and he gave it back. Then one guy comes back from his leave and starts crying about not wanting a straight truck so they took my truck away. Yes I was very upset. AT the same time two dock guys became drivers and bumped me down further. AT the end of the year I was forced to work the night switcher since I was the jr man, but i didnt care because it would give me things to do during day and was still just happy to have a job. The last minute i was bumped, and the first week of the year i was laid off along with 3 others, 1 below and two above.

After the 2nd week they brought one guy back to help on dock, after that he went back t driving and they brought the other guy back for dock. The stewart was hoping to bring me back the following week and nothing happened. About a month goes buy now, I saved my money for this in case it happened. Heard nothing, tried looking for other work. Every job i applied for wasnt getting back or I didnt score high on the test.

This tuesday the stewart called me and said I can send you to the break bulk terminal (about a hour north of me) for you to do line-haul, they have the work and want drivers. He told me you will make more money and that is where its at, you can go up for now and come back or stay there full-time. I chose to stay full-time and he started with my transfer(he didnt want me to leave but at the same time he wants me to work). I figured if Im going to stay out for a night or two the commute wont be too terrible then. Got the call from the stewart up north and he said hes got all the paper work and I just have to sign everything so I can be transfered

Now the reason Im making this thread is because a few of the guys and myself do get a lot of PM's (feel free to PM me anytime Ill help as best as I could) and give everyone an opportunity to see how the life of a driver is at YRC.

The reason it says OUR experience is because theres a few of us who will be doing this thread. And anyone else who works for YRC is more then welcome to post as well.

This goes for switching, dock, line-haul and P/D.
