No need to learn parallel parking, the fuel island offers ample parking at our nations wonderful “travel centers” :). Excuse the sarcasm, best of luck to you both. Work hard on being a professional, hopefully they still teach that.

    Week-3

This week has been a little off and on. Continued building on those required backing, driving, safety (which also means showing respect)pre-trip, etc.

Had another student join, and we had a few who test out today (who came in to do some practice, so made a couple days a bit limited to drive the trucks) The weather is terrible feels like 100 degrees in the shade.

We are off for the next 5 days for the 4th of July, so we came home today and will head back on the 5th to finish up and hopefully get a test date.

We have been actively talking about coming on board with AMX, which is exciting as they require a year of experience. Instructors have given us some great praise and have told us we are very dedicated to learning. I guess it's a good sign.

All for this week, I'll post more when I work out some things but could be doing orientation with AMX in a few weeks if all goes well. Have a great weekend, be safe, and if you're celebrating Happy 4th!!!

Well, we are back at it. Back from the holiday extended weekend.

Today, we spoke with the recruiter and have officially been offered terms of employment once we pass our state test. We should be getting our test date sometime next week as we are finishing up our week 3. AMX believes in their academy. They want 1 year of driving experience recently. So if you have 4 years and haven't been in the industry in, say, 5 years. They want a year unless you do a refresher with their academy. We have a man doing just that. He has about 3 years experience and got out of the industry and after 10-11 years coming back. So he is doing a refresher. But if you attend their academy they waive the one year.

I will outline what we have been offered because they have 3-4 type of drivers. We are going team but the recruiter advised all they have. I have it written down and will post it all in a separate post this weekend.

Felt good to get back in the truck did fundamentals after 6 days of being away and was a little sluggish. The lead instructor asked us both how we feel on scales of 1-10. I told him 6, GF said 4. He rated us both test ready. But reinforced how far we have come in a few weeks.

Today, Pre-Trip and Incab inspection is the focus, making sure I got it down. GF is working on off set rights as she struggles from time to time.

Alright, so the break down as it was offered to us. Everyone might be different, people with experience might see more.

Orientation - Starts on Monday runs through Thursday M,T,W is like 8 hours, and Th is like 4 hours. Paid 700.00

You then will do 4-6 weeks of training where you paid 700.00 a week.

They have 4 lanes or fleets.

1- Regional M-F home on weekends (full a lot of times but does come open) 900.00 a week. This is hourly I missed how much but as long as you are available, looking at 900.00 a week. 16.00 a day per diem.

2- Super Regional, 20.00 an hour all time paid as long as you are available. About 1200-1300 a week. 16.00 a day per diem.

3- OTR, 22.00 an hour based on 70-hour clock, bout 1500.00 a week (must do a year here if you sign up) 16.00 a day per diem.

4- Super Solo (Teams) 58 cents mile, must be husband and wife or a couple. Not run as a standard team truck runs about 15-17 hours a day. Every once in a while, they have to move something fast they will run you as a true team. 1400.00 a week each with 69.00 per diem each. Also, time off is 11-12 days out 2-3 days off. OTR is 6/1.

Perks great insurance 500 deductible, paid reserve parking. After one year, 1 week vacation after 2 years 2 weeks.

Detention pay, a lot to type here, but they seem fair, nothing fantastic.

That's about all I can think of, we are set to do team driving as soon as we can get our test done. We have 1 more week of training before eligible to test.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

You can't discuss your own channel. It's considered advertising.

I'll remove it from the previous post.

    @Seth0194 --

Per post #14 above (and thank you for that, btw :D) -- are those figures for dry van freight -- or for reefer freight?

That answer will make a BIG DIFFERENCE in how hard you work for your pay....
