Man...the solution is easy and it's in your hands. Your just having a hard time at the moment. Either think bigger or just do something else. This industry is full of hard knocks. Wipe the tears from your eyes and figure it out. Not trying to be hard on you but you had better get stepping and quit the crying. It is what it is. Many give up. Many also prosper.

I'm paid for every hour I work in the day. Excellent benefits, new equipment. 4xxxxx DOT number. He's been around a while, not a fly by night guy. Yup, those jobs are out there.

Believe me, I've beat that horse dead with my boss. We're only paid for our "on duty" time. They did however give all drivers a 6% pay increase to make up for it last year.

I love being paid by the hour. Gross about 80,000 a year and home every day and off on the weekend. We used to be paid for our thirty but they just took that away from us. SUCKS!!! The funny thing is, I had some stuff stolen off the truck while I was on my thirty and they got pissed that I wasn't watching the truck. I told them since they aren't paying me to watch it, it's not my responsibility. They weren't happy about it but nothing they can do, since I'm off duty not getting paid. Lol

Guess the sarcasm didn't come through there.

But as I told the OP, it's pro-rated in your base pay, which you point out with the 6% increase. Somethings are just part of the job.

Guy probably wants to get paid to put his socks on in the morning. No wonder we're getting replaced with robots as soon as possible.

I am new to the business and I see detention Kerri popping up, I will be running off of load boards til I find my niche. I'd detention that I should be trying to negotiate when calling about a load or is that just wishful thinking?

    No thanks.
I'm neither of those 2 and don't plan on it.
Additionally at best I agree with only 25% of what they do.

OOIDA won my heart and membership fee when they sued Tennessee DOT and won. I was a member for 25 years.
