Best to log line 2 sleeper berth once you've checked in. After 8 hours you've extended your 14 and 11.

Always keep in mind, if there is an accident later, everything will come into play. Paper log or E log, both can be cheated, but I don't think any load is worth some prison time.

You all are forgetting the easy and legal answer. Line 5 OFF-DUTY DRIVING/ personal conveyance. Unless your company locked that out of QC. My company gives us 1 hour at a time of off-duty driving. Your not really Off- Duty at shipper or receiver unless you are free to do what ever you want. So if your not needed for unloading in anyway you can go to sleeper. If you get 8 hours in sleeper that would extended the 14 hour and your driving time also. Paper logs don't have line 5 so it easy to do on ELDs. You can be on you 10 hour and drive to movies or go shopping. You can go do anything you want. Like I said my company gives us 1 hour driving time. So you could drive 55 minutes stop and see a movie, get back in truck and drive 55 minutes back were you started.

Oh BS! Being compliant is being safe. Just imagine the roads without the 30 minute break for example. It would be chaos. How dare you question the EXPERTS at the FMCSA!

That is why it your responsibility to care for your own safety. You are the driver of that truck. Not the company. The company cannot force you to drive unsafe. As much as the may try, you have to be willing to stick to your guns and not move that truck if you are not safe to do so. In the end, it all comes down on the driver.

A warning from the QC does not go on your CSA score. I have had several warnings from my QC and my CSA score is still zero. For anything to go your CSA score, you must have an inspection to go with it.

You're lucky a pilot was close and you found a spot to park.Next time if customer won't let you park there ask them if theres a place nearby you can park.Tell hubby not to make it a habit to run out of hrs because his company said it was okay.Tell hubby to start keeping an eye on his hrs and if he feels he wont have the hrs to find a safe haven then he needs to tell his company before he runs out.

Are you sure about this? The reason I ask is about 3 years ago I got a warning ticket for speeding in NC, the trooper told me the only thing it's good for is to hang on my refrigerator, 2 months later it was 3 points on my CSA, my safety director went nuts, I told him it's only a warning and didn't show up on my MVR so what seems to be the problem? Needless to say, the 3 points in my life is a conversation piece.

Yes. I got a ticket a couple of years ago for running a red light even though it cycled through a quick yellow with no time to stop. No inspection with the ticket. I paid the fine and nothing ever went on my CSA about it.

There's actually been drivers who've called a LEO for this purpose. Now, if the Pilot was 3 miles, he could have eased it over there and went right back to off duty, no violation. I do that a lot.

Kudos, sir or madam. That is what I was referring to was the DOT.
