I did good on weekend evening/mornings (drunk ~50%). I drove for the local cab company during the day and that was great money for being home every night. After the local cab co. lost the contract they had with a certain health care provider; that job went to pot. I tried doing Uber and Lyft during the day, but most of the daytime clientele had 'regular' drivers and I needed money NOW. So it was back to trucking for me.
Good Luck! I think and have heard that you're in a very good market up there.
Out of necessity, a new direction...

This was a good move---resigning the position. But why not look for a daytime gig? And by that, i mean a daytime CDL gig.
i don't think ridesharing is the best move; It's not a horrible move, but it's not as good as say, delivering 53' volume loads to department stores during the day........... -
I've heard that the guys with a mid or full size SUV have more options to transport larger items for people [for premium pay] but the extra gas cost otherwise may make that problematic and I suppose some older people don't like getting in and out of higher vehicles.

Uber where? Here in nyc it’s slave wages after deductions and taxes.

What about going back to FXF? You worked there for 18 years already. Or any of the other LTL as a City Driver. Or maybe land a Yard Jockey gig somewhere. Dockworker.

G13Tomcat Thanks this. -
I just recently got rid of that pile of junk Colorado I posted elsewhere about, and traded it for this 2014 Passat. German engineering just makes sense to me. To me, this is the ideal rideshare for hire car out there. Tons of room in the back seat, premium sound, huge trunk, and a peppy 1.8t (170 hp, 6 sp auto) that I'm averaging 40 mpg(!) with.
I'm doing both UberEats and UberX (passenger), so I can stay pretty busy.

JReding Thanks this.

And as far as FXF, you couldn't pay me enough to go back to my old terminal, and I don't want to commute to the others. By now, I've lost all seniority, anyway, and would start at the bottom again.
