Depends on where I'm going. My last company had EZ Pass, so the only time I needed money for tolls was if I was running up or down 44 in Oklahoma. New company doesn't have EZ Pass, so again, depends on where I'm going. Scales are only $10 ($12 total, if you do a re-weigh). All in all, I probably carry $100 in cash. Debit card for everything else.

I usually carry 40 bucks on me and anything beyond that I have the company credit card that I use for fuel.
-
I should add that I will be running East of the Mississippi River only.

If your Company has EZPass (Prepass+) it will cover most of the Tolls.

youre asking the wrong person lol. im always prepared for a run that takes me past the casino. usually $1000 hidden in various places in the truck. on my person? never more than 40 or 50 bucks.

As a company driver you shouldn't have to pay tolls. Next time you come across a toll tell them you have no money. They will write down your plate number and company and send your company a bill. They will send you on your way

Thanks for all the information. I start training on March 11 and just trying to set up a budget.

I would recommend $200 - yes, your company should pay tolls and lumpers should be pre-paid however this is the trucking business and stuff does not go as planned enough to overlook carrying a little extra cash. Maybe the lumper wasnt pre-paid and it is 2:00am and you cant get anyone on the phone. The lumper charges $75 - lucky you, you have it in your wallet and can pay the lumper, get the load off and move on with your day, maybe go sleep at the next shipper. Then when the rest of the world wakes up get the code for a comcheck and reimburse yourself or turn in the receipt to your company and get paid back.
The point here is you didnt have to screw around at a receiver at 2:00am because you had the forethought to bring a little cash and solve the problem vs calling your company or the broker and complaining and then waiting 5 or 6 more hours for the rest of the world to wake up and then get a problem solved. I would give the driver who did this a raise well before the guy who didnt. Just my .02! -
i use my atm card for everything then get reimbursed by the company for stuff that is thiers
