Out of State trucking company wants to run under my company's authority

You still need driver files, monthly maintenance reports, have them in your drug testing consortium, just like any other driver. Employment application for each driver plus required work history checks, pre-employment drug screening, everything required of any new driver. They will be leased to you just like any other O/O. You are responsible for all that not the fleet owner.

The reason NOT to have them do their own IRP is that if you require you provide the tags then you know it is done. If they fail to renew, pay 2290, etc. and they get stopped remember it still comes back to you, by a failed DOT inspection or fines or both. You don't need to risk your CSA scores and even your authority. As said already, you are responsible for everything they do.

Did you advertise you are looking for more trucks or did they approach you randomly, as they shop for someone to let them do this? Do they have their own customers, do they want you to dispatch them, or do they expect to run off load boards? Any revenue they generate had better be paid to you, and you then give them their share. In no way should anything ever be paid directly to anyone other than the authority holder.

 

The headache is not worth it. They screw up, you pay.

Bottom line is, everything you have to do for the drivers you have leased on is what your company has to do for this company wanting to use your numbers.
