About how long is a new driver out with a trainer?? Are there any companies that don't require you to be out with a trainer for weeks upon weeks?

Roughly 6-8 weeks. Usually your time out with a trainer is dictated by the individual companies insurance.
Some companies are a little less some a little more. 6-8 weeks is average.
There are a select few companies out there that don't send you with a trainer but I don't advise it. Especially this time of year. I actually went down that road when I first started and it really bit me in the ###! Highly, highly suggest you go with a good trainer. Training can be a blast and the time goes by so quickly you will probably wish you could go a little longer. Not going with a trainer will result in you wondering around the country trying to figure it out for yourself and not making a dime while doing so. There is a lot more to it than holding the steering wheel and there will be times you will be thankful for having someone sitting next to you helping you out and showing you the ropes.

Three to six weeks.
Watkins and Shepard. -
About 4 weeks with Schneider and it's well worth doing because there's more to driving a truck than holding a steering wheel. Trucking is a lifestyle not a job, it's either in you or it ain't. You constantly need to be learning. Nothing worse than needing info and picking up the cb asking the question and getting 30 different answer's. so learn all you can while there's a trainer in the truck.

240 hours for swift and 30+ days for cr england.

Five weeks at tmc, last three can be team if your trainer feels comfortable with you. (You still only recieve training pay)

The 240 hours for Swift, is that broken down in to 10 hour driving times? So, roughly 24 days out with a trainer. I saw another company wanted around 275 hours and was wondering how they broke that down.

As for time training, I'd say that out of the 15 or so company websites I have looked over, CR England is the longest. According to their website; 17 days to learn company policies and procedures, 30 days with a Phase 1 trainer earning $61.43 per day, if you pass Phase 1 you go to Phase II which is 60 days as 2nd seat with an independent contractor earning a whopping $.12 per mile. So over three and a half months before you become a solo or team driver and on top of that you have to pay THEM $1400 tuition.
