It was 4.50 in our mall until 1985. Then prices went to 6.00 and up.

The mall was razed to bare dirt roughly 1992. It's a walmart now.

My thoughts exactly can't run more than a B- double out of Sale he'd have to haul the two 45' up to Swan Hill singly then couple them up from there

Nah, Swan Hill too far. Like I said before, hook them up at Moama, only 200 kms from Melbourne. There's even at least 2 dedicated hook up yards there.
You want proof? Here's a video I made a couple of years ago of my truck pulling out of Moama and going through Deniliquin.

Really awesome video Oz. Btw, those where tower cranes you was hauling and I noticed they even had parts of the jib section inside the tower section. Am I correct ? I haul a lot of those cranes out here in So. California USA.

Thanks for the compliment, I'm glad someone appreciates it. Yeah, they were tower crane sections. One of the lightest loads I've hauled, often the sections are sitting on counterweights which brings you up to max weight payload.
Where I hooked the trailers up at the start was an old farmer's farm, he had an area graded and gravelled for us and we gave him $20 each time which is pretty cheap. He's since retired and now we use another facility. Or like on my last trip to Karratha I got another guy to bring my 2nd trailer from Sale and I hooked it up in a parking bay.

Usually out here they put the counter weights on the deck (2 or 3) and an inverted jib section on top of that. The tower sections are usually by themselves. I have haul all the parts to build a tower crane. It's a nice challenge. I did one today(Friday) and doing another one tomorrow (Saturday).

    Hi all,

I am a journalist interested in learning more about the industry from driver's perspectives, particularly in regards to extremely long haul journey's and the debate occurring in certain circles around whether or not automated vehicles are feasible in an Australian context.

I'm particulalry interested in those who drive the Adelaide to Darwin route, and would be really keen to hear some thoughts of those who regularly make that commute.

Feel free to shoot me an email if anyone is interested in chatting - edward@cavanough.com

    Thanks,
    Edward
