On my '72 Pete, loading the wagon took weight OFF the steers. I don't think I ever had more than 11,500 on the steer.

12,5 is too light an axle for an 860 IMO. I'm surprised they'll even spec that.Magoo1968 Thanks this. -

No sense to have a panic attack, or loose sleep. It’s all a matter of making adjustments, and working things out.

I have a 23 860 same engine as you (hp is irrelevant to weight) with an APU and 125gal tanks full and I'm under 12. I can take 34000 on the drives and be right at 12.
I would have gotten the largest tanks possible with 500hp. That thing is going to chew through your fuel supply faster than you'd like. -
