So a few weeks back, I got an overweight ticket bobtailing. 100% my fault for not seeing and knowing the posted truck route. My issue is when I went to court to reduce it, ( $1,350.00:biggrin_25516:!!!!) they would only reduce it 25% and no points. I do appreciate the no points but $900!!!!! And while I listen to other people sob stories, my fine, even amended, was (initially) more than a first time AMD second drunk driver!!!! WHAT THE FUDGE!?!?? BS!!!! Horsecaca!!!!!!

Thank you for listening, we now return you to your daily routine!!!??:biggrin_25516:

I think many of the fines for non-serious trucking violations would qualify as cruel and unusual punishment if they were compared to other things, but what truckdriver could afford a herd of lawyers to prove it?

It's all about revenue , and trucks are the gift that keeps on giving. At least no points!

Reminds me of the day in about 1990 in the Banning courthouse. A driver pulled his loaded reefer around a corner behind a grocery store to get to the dock. Portables set up there, he could not read english so he didnt understand that he was supposed to enter from the front driveway. One dollar per pound on a 10 ton city street. He left the courtroom sobbing like a 4 year old. I always guessed he just went back to Mexico rather than pay a $60,000 fine. Coincidently a few years later it became trendy to shoot DOT cops in California. Then they got nicer.

So did you go on a bridge that handled less than 25,000 pounds or something? I thought no truck signs applied to trucks with trailers. This is a question I forgot to ask.

Perhaps a "WEIGHT LIMIT" sign into a subdivision or roadway?
    (3 Tons for example)

I had a cop try and tell me that driving my bobtail into this area was illegal.
So I asked him how then, our garbage trucks and snowplows etc were able to legally enter the same area.
    He wasn't able to answer.

So then he told me that there must be some other law I was breaking.

    Really ?
