Anyone have any recommendations on when to do an overhead on the MX13? KW with about 570k on her, no clicking or power loss, but the dealer (of course the dealer wants to do one) is recommending it.

About 250,000 miles ago.

Yep I'd say you're overdue. Its a regular maintenance thing just like changing oil. I don't know the recommended interval for a valveset but 570k is definitely pushing it!

They want to do it because it should’ve been done at 300k.
D.Tibbitt, spsauerland, Casimir66 and 2 others Thank this. -
What is KW charging to do it these days $600? Do it once a year and you never have to wonder about it.
D.Tibbitt Thanks this. -
You could wait and see what happens and how much it'll cost to fix.
Or go the cheaper route and take care of it once a year.
The value of an adjustment is anyone's guess.D.Tibbitt, spsauerland and Casimir66 Thank this. -

Used to be $300 not too long ago.

The MX13 is about two hours of labor and it’s a two man job.
D.Tibbitt Thanks this. -
Do you have the overhead done at a dealership shop or go to a cummins if there is one nearby?
-
I do one every 200,000 on my Detroit. OEM recommends every 500,000.
You can’t do it too often, but it can do damage if left too late.
