Yes i agree there usally is as a matter of a fact as blind dvr said 2 mile before at highland point.
I drove that section just yesterday and paid real close attention.
If the truck had been stopped at light and just turned green as the car came around the corner the car had about seconds after seeing a green light before being able to see any vehicles then about three seconds before having a view to see that the truck was turning and another 5 seconds to make the connection that the rear amber light was part of the truck as it would appear to be floating in his lane while truck trailer lights where way to his left. 5 seconds is not much time to make the connection and react.
It tragic for sure and to the one that said driver should wait till clear from his view I am sure it looked clear when he started 10 seconds or less is not enough time to make that swing and the car would have been out of sight at the start of it.

Driver in the wrong probably due to the wrong turn to begin with and picking the worst of the three lights to make the U turn.

Don't forget abut the guy driving his pick up while pulling a 30' travel trailer AND pulling the boat. Doesn't even seem legal to me.

For Big truck truck drivers with a Doubles/Triples endorsement on
their CDL-A Commercial Driver's License, pulling the combination you've
described is a perk. And it's legal as long as the equipment is up to the
task, usually a fifth wheel trailer in front with a ball-hitch set-up behind
    that.

Looks cool drivin' down the highway, --- turnin' heads of those who wish
they could do the same. I've often wondered why more Big truck truck
drivers don't take advantage of that privilege.

Again, one is supposedly a professional held to higher standards and regulations and the other is a private citizen enjoying his vacation time. No different than if I was to go rent a twin engine and fly around the world stopping only for fuel. No laws prevent that, but a commercial pilot with forty years experience has to follow regs or lose his career. He has to stop every eight hours.

You sound like you think trucking is the only industry that has operators under strict guidelines that if broken carry severe penalties.

It's possible he was just screwing with me, but an officer that lives down the street from me said there was no limit to how many wagons you hook up to a pick up as long as the total gvwr doesn't cross a certain threshold(he stated the number but I don't have a snow balls chance in hell to remember it). Assuming we are talking about personal vehicles and trailers and none are used commercially.

About a month ago, I was attempting to deliver some utility poles to a summer camp in PA. I thought I could make the turn in to their driveway, but was wrong, and could not go forward.

I called the local police and requested assistance. I needed to back out onto a small, wet, hilly road.

When the coppers got there they were very rude and seemed bothered by the situation. So I killed them, with kindness, backed out safely (not so quickly) and when it was over they thanked me for doing the right thing.

This war story was provided as evidence to back up your suggestion. To show that calling the cops does happen and can work out for the best. With all parties safe and happy(ish).
