Oversize load PA to OH

    Lane changes didn't seem to be an issue when I got to the big roads. I can see under the widest part of the trailer to just beyond the back. I took PLENTY of time to signal and ease on over. Only changed lanes a handful of times.

    Edited to add: I tried to change lanes on gradual curves, where I can see farther behind. Long left curves to change lanes to the left and gradual right curves to change lanes to the right.

    I'll bet a dollar that blue ####### has Schlumberger in big white letters on both sides. Those are my gravy out here but after moving camps in PA I don't think I'd enjoy moving them as much. I also thought ACME had wrecked one and wasn't allowed to move them anymore.

    Edit to add if you're weighing over 40 on the back it has sand in it they should go around 36k empty in lots of states that is considered a multi piece which invalidates an overweight permit.

    Those are also what I was talking about with stacked signs on the conveyor. We aren't allowed stacked signs so we have to run our own on the back as well.

    Good guess! I'm waiting for permits to arrive. I already plugged in the multistop trip in my Rand McNally based on the bonded route given by Schlumberger, but based on the misinformation about dimensions and weight I'll need to review the route with a fine toothed comb before I move this load an inch.

    I don't know about any ACME incidents, might have been one of our PA terminals. I'm out of OKC. Schlumberger is one of our best customers for the bottom tool end of things. I'll be glad to finish this delivery and bobtail back to hook to my tiny little 48' spread axle.

    Your factory mirrors should be 11 ft wide. You're not looking for the rear of your trailer, you're looking for rear view visibility into the other lanes. He should be able to see fine with that load. Backing is the difficult part, but he'll get used to it.

    Now if he's over 12'6 wide, he can do the rookie wiggle to see around the load.

    If your basing the routes you plugged in on routes requested get ready because what you request and what you get can be WAY different.

    Made the delivery without a hitch. Used the "via" feature on my Rand McNally for the first time and it worked well, keeping me on track to the permit route.

    I'll give a more complete assessment of what I learned tomorrow, right now I'm celebrating with a steak and adult beverages. Tomorrow I will try to grab a load or two off the load board to work my way back to OKC, put my truck in the shop, and take a week or so off to see my honey.

    By the way, most "sand chiefs" in PA are 9'6" and 53' long. They figured out that this one was from their OK operations, where they use the larger units. The trailer tandems spread to 10'8", not leaving much room in an 11' lane.

    I had fun. Definitely want to do more OD loads, just not heavy. My poor little D60 was #####ing and whining, especially on the final grade to the pad, well over 20% and I was losing rpm's in 1st.
