I'm not judging....And as I have said before...All involved share the blame....
There is no excuse for taking out that bridge period....

Well we know one thing is for sure ... If Washington state was looking to replace that bridge and got a real good reason to do it now.
Working Class Patriot and snowblind Thank this. -
I always wondered why some pilot cars get so far out in front of their rig they loose visual.
Also I try not to split between a pilot car and a primary. (but when they're almost a mile appart,,,,?) -
I just remembered something about a height warning device that could be mounted on a rig that gave as much as 200' advanced warning to a collision.....IIRC it was on Lockridge's old show......

You've made an aweful lot of "insitefull" comments about this incident...I'd like to know your info source, btw it sucks.
Excuses, no, but they have not made any!
NTSB will complete a full investigation, the report will be public, but the reason will not come to light for a while.
I do know this driver. Well, would be a understatement. About the only fact correct is that the bridge collapsed.
The driver in Q is HIGHLY experienced.
He was not too close to the pole car, wouldn't have mattered anyway...The pole NEVER touched.
The load was southbound, never changed lanes and DID NOT contact the first girder but cleared every other one the rest of the way across...sound odd to you? Does to me.
The truck, trailer, & load have been impounded by the NTSB, but trucking company inspectors figure there is less than a thousand dollars damage to the load, sound like bridge killer impact to you? Doesn't to me either.
At the time of this posting, no charges have been laid!
No, I do not work for, or speak for the trucking company or the driver in question.
However he IS my friend, and I don't like the way people are speaking about him.
This man's experience and track record is impressive & speaks for itself! He probably can't remember the last time he hauled a "legal" load, nor can I, so I know the level of skill required to achieve it, VERY few truly do.
This man exudes PROFESSIONALISM, and he would seek facts BEFORE passing judgement on you, please show him the same courtesy.Freightlinerbob and Infosaur Thank this. -
Back off buddy....Every one of us who runs the ribbon has to be accountable.....
Years ago I was driving a company dump truck when a drunk hit me trying to use the suicide lane as a passing lane...CHP came out and told me that it was my "Fault" because I as a CDL holder, "Are a professional"...And "That accident should have never happened in the first place.." -
Heavy hauling @ >150,000#(which I haven't been less than in years), 2000' is probably not enough. -
Btw...You missed this part:
-
You run over 80K...Slow the Hell down....You're not driving in a sports car right? -
I asked politely that you show him the same courtesy he would show you and seek the facts BEFORE passing judgement.
I was polite, and you tried to alpha male me, it won't work, you sir, are spewing $&/@ you clearly know nothing about! Your contradictions are shining through! Please do yourself a favor and get FACTS before you continue posting in threads concerning this incident, your lack of knowledge about it are enraging.
