Thanks for the tip. Considering this is the same truck that will be seen in the new Transformers movie this June, I'd say it's pretty current ;)

NJ wants their money ! If you pickup in NJ and deliver in NJ , they want you to file income tax for NJ.

I'll accept your position. But with some reluctance. If Mr Prime is paying gas money and food for himself and truck to go visit children without a shred of profit making freight anywhere in a trailer... he will fit perfect with how you described. Heck it makes ME want to cough up a couple dollars myself becuase I know what it takes to run the #### things It's for the chillen.. ugh..

Now if he is taking Mr PRime tractor, hooking up to a company commerical motor carrier 53 foot reefer to pick up 48,000 pounds of meat going to the Orleans Port for export... ahem he's now a HIRE truck and he has to ake thta sign off.

The problem Im having is this. Prime is essentially a show truck for kiddies. Leave it alone and run your normal company tractor doing normal company making money (Or losing same...) until you feel ready to take Prime out for a walk onto some school yard far away.

Well as someone who has a truck that travels all over the place as a non-commercial vehicle, i offered a way to by pass all of this but you ignored some of the advice and still beleive that the not for hire sign is a way out, it isn't.

Not for hire means that you are a commercial private hauler and nothing more.

Putting that sign means nothing and any other sign for that matter because if you pull into a weigh station and do not have it registered as a rv or a non commercial vehicle, than you are in their eye a commercial vehicle.

The other thing is why did you pull into the scales in the first place?

And YES the officer can call whom ever they want to confirm your story, he is investigating your story and has his job to do enforcing both federal regulations and the state's regulations/laws.

^^^ This would be my guess as to what he was doing. Did the people he called say if he asked if it was a payed appearance? If you search the forum for "Nj corporate tax" it may make more sense as to what he was doing.

Maybe they have lots of cellulite in the hips or don't have to change pants when they visit England for the fox hunts.
