Can someone help please, picked up load (34000lbs) and after exiting shippers yard and turning right i crossed overpass bridge with 5t weight limit when police officer waiting on other side, stopped me and fined my company with 34000$! 60cents per every lbs over
My gps didnt alert me about bridge weight limit and i didnt see weight limit sign. Also beside sign in front of brigde,no other warnings on that street miles before bridge. Shipper didnt mention anything and no directions on confirmation from brokers. No damage to bridge, really small sign in front of bridge.
Tried to change ticket on my name so i can go with consultants but virginia law only fines company, nothing to drivers,no record for driver. Do you have any suggestions what to do about that ticket, can company fine me,best to do with this and company, can they dispute this on court?

What do you need help with? You went over a weight restricted bridge because you were not paying attention. Maybe with the lesson it will teach you to read road signs.
P.S. I turn over double yellow lines all the time, never heard of that being a law....Last edited: Jul 17, 2018

Was this one of those old 30 ft long all concrete looking old bridges that go over a stream? I run those whenever I'm in the country. Where you in the city?

So the math tells me the ticket was for 56,666.666666666 pounds over the limit.
Your truck and trailer should be 34,000 or less if not a reefer. So if you loaded 34,000 you weight was near 64,000.
64,000- 10,000 = 54,000 I think the officer was over by a bit on the amount billed?Last edited: Jul 17, 2018
