I do not know why they didn't sell him a permit, it possibly could have been an overall length thing, as he was in a long tractor too, but he had to have it hauled out none the less, and didn't do it just to be spending bucks.

It’s the cutting the trailer down that I’m not buying.
shogun, 4mer trucker, Oxbow and 6 others Thank this. -
Just what I read in one of the truckers publications back then. I do know for a fact that the company had those 57 ft vans, because a friend of mine at bowie Tx was leased to them, they hauled a lot of empty cans and plastic bottles and such.
I guess if the state didn't give them any alternative, it would have been better than just giving up the trailers.D.Tibbitt Thanks this. -
Never did I say at a scale. The report I read claimed they were held in a storage yard, some of them for several months, while it was all sorted out. It has been years and I do not remember all the particulars, but I seem to remember that they let them haul them out on the railroad for a while, I know georgia did, but the other state eventually got tired of them sending them up, like I said it has been years, so I could be wrong on that.

We talked to some manufacturers about building us a 56 foot walking floor, but for a one off, it was somewhat cost prohibitive.
I knew a guy in Amarillo that stretched a merrit bull wagon to 57, and pulled it with a stretched cabover.Tug Toy Thanks this. -
