Overweight on drive axle

    Is the permit good only if you over 80k ...or whatever is over your registration , i i didn't do lot of overweight loads but wider than legal and i was somehow sure that its possible

    @snowwy is correct. In order to get an overweight permit, it has to be a non divisible load.

    On the west coast. Divisible loads don't have an option of being overweight on axles.
    You need a drop axle to have more then 34k. A drop will get you 43.5k on a standard tri setup.
    Or a spread axle setup. That will get you up to 40k.

    East coast has different rules.

    The state also has to be a divisible state. AZ isn't one of them. Neither is CA.

    I"m not sure how CA works. I see no reason for short double bellies. Just to haul 80k.
    Maybe someone that lives there and is on here. Might shed some light for the rest of us to understand.
