You’ll burn some fuel off before Florida for sure. Can’t say whether the others will let you through. But, I can help you out a bit more if I knew your starting and ending points ;) Getting around MS is easy. Depending on the route you’re headed, GA is too

Most will let you slide at less than 5% anyway.

You can’t slide the fifth wheel as it is bolted in place?
Or you can release it, but you’re not able to get it to move?

You should be good to go. MS may be closed, and they may bring you around for another look if open. But that’s about all.

    You’re not that much over.

Alabama, no scales. Georgia, may be closed coming into Atlanta. Even if they’re open, you’ll have burned off enough fuel to get by. Even if they are open, my last take on overweight tickets in Georgia was 10 cents a pound.

I don’t know what your fuel situation is right now. So just be mindful of that. Because you still have Florida. But, you can run state routes. Those close frequently ;)

In a nutshell. You’re at 1%. It’s going to take a real ####### to write you a ticket.

Run it! If your gross is not over 80k that 300 pounds is within the error. Those scales are not that precise. After getting hit day in and day out at best your going to get 500 pounds.

It can not ( or at least it is really difficult) be moved with the weight on it. You have to lower the landing gear to get neutral weight on the fifth . Then it can be slid.
Personally I find it easier to just drop the trailer. Pull ahead a few feet. Then use a pry bar to put the fifth exactly where I want it. If the air cylinder is too weak to retract the pins, you can help pry out the pins at this point, the air will at least hold them out for you.
