Overweight on my drive axle 34340lbs, can I slide my 5th wheel?

    most scales are set to change to red light you at 35000 or 81000 except Virginia they are only nice on Christmas eve

    Mostly it is unwritten. What you need to do is ask. Don't go running into the next scale house you see either. However, very few OTR drivers go long periods of years without some contact with an enforcement officer. This is the time to ask.

    The tolerances of the scales is about 3 to 6% depending on the state - look at their weights and measures standards for public scales.

    Yes but if their scales say the drives are 32,500 and the trailer is 34,500 they’re probably going to ask you to correct it ..... then they may want to go out with a tape measure after the adjustment was made. Just sayin’

    You were right . I was driving 150 miles and I lost 140 lbs on steer and only 40 on drive axle

    Maryland allows 1000 lbs on axles on non-Interstate highways.

    I couldn't remember if it was the steers that lost faster or the drives.

    On my current w9. Which has screwy tanks and positions. The drives lose faster.

    For the record, the weight of diesel is dependent on the density and that is dependent on the temp. I always used 7.25 pounds a gallon.
