Overweight on steers going through Cali

    When you open the drivers door, there should be a sticker with axles and weights, what does it say for steer? Most are 12.5-13.2 now a day

    Every heavy haul truck going down the highway with the big wide base steers is probably 14K+ bobtail. My truck is 16K on the steers bobtail. I never get bypassed at scales but as soon as they pull me up on the platform they see the front tires and give a green light. 20K is legal in every state for a single axle as long as your equipment is rated for it.

    Seems I recall you had to be careful in South Dakota too, but that was in the 80s so there's that.

    The steers look fine to me. You'll burn some of that weight off as you drive. I try not to have to slide the fifth wheel at all
