Ok so i am currently in cdl school right now. On the 6th of december i will graduate and have my cdl license. I am trying to figure out where to work. There is so many and i cant get a handle on which one to choose. I would prefer ltl dedicated or anything like that since i want to spend time with my family but understand things will come up and so forth. Now honestly where do i start i have read almost this entire forum and none of my questions are answered and im left with a bad headache from all the information. I live in elizabethtown, ky which is 45 miles south of louisville, ky. I served 5 years in the military got medically retired for some personal conditions. And i just want to know which company is the best for my situation. Which pays the best out of the gate since right now i am not even making it from check to check. Best opportunities for quickly being on my own because i am a leader not a follower i excel when it comes to figuring things out on my own. I just need help i dont have money to go anywhere. I dont know what else to put i just really need suggestions of companies. Bottom line is i want ltl, dedicated, regional and i want to do flat bed hauls since they have the best paying opportunities.
Overwhelmed

I hate to tell you this but unless you get extremely lucky like I did, you will not get anything local or dedicated or LTL right out of school. Most of those require atleast a year of OTR. If you are really needing money, you will take whatever job is available to you. If you are too picky then you obviously didn't need money as much as you thought. If you would like, I can tell you how I got on with my company with 0 driving experience, didn't have to pay for a driving school, and I run regional and I am home every night and off on weekends and run on average around 3200 miles a week. It is possible to do but you will have to work your butt off but there is only about a 5% chance of it happening.

Sadly you and everybody else who gets out of trucking school want the same thing. Time with your family and a nice check to get you through the week. Good luck with that. You are also coming in during the slow freight time of year so some of those ltl companies who hire rookies. May have a freeze. Most all companies will bend you over. Some are just known for not using lube. I may have a great experience with a company while the next 5 guys have a horrible experience. It's more about who wants to hire a green horn then you picking the best company. If one doesn't work then go to the other. After awhile you will figure out they are all pretty much the same, and maybe fine another career to go into. All you are going to do is get a ton of opinions from disgruntled drivers and you will never put in an app. Just put in apps. See who call you and see which one best suits your needs benefits wise. Also just because flatbed offers more per mile. It doesn't mean you will be running 3,000 miles a week either. Also there's a lot of accidents that can happen that can put you out of work so keep that in mind as well. I also think flat bed slows down a little in winter but I'm not sure. Hope you make a wise decision and no need to be overwhelmed when it comes to trucking companies. Just take everything they tell you with a grain of salt, because by the time you are finished with orientation. Most things would have changed.

Just got off the phone with maverick and that seems like the best option since i wanted regional and they offer around the same stuff you wrote

Look at it this way at least u got yours narrowed down 2 flatbed. As far as 4 picking. Majority of your starter companies are the same in rare cases people end up staying at the starter company. Pick 1 of any u named start and if u don't like it go somewhere else after 3 months. And don't quit before getting another job. Because we can tell u what we don't like in that company but only 1st hand experience can do the best thing 4 u

I sent you a pm with some info. Also Boyd is only east of I35 running. Also from what I understand they have several dedicated runs although not sure if they have any in our area. My bf is thinking about trying for a TX dedicated run after we move back there.

I'm just a wannabe but through my own research I think Maverick would be a great choice. I'm not far from Etown myself, would you mind if I asked what driving school you are going through and would you recomend it, I'm willing to pay out of pocket for school but can't decide which one
