The mini trucks make up the mini fleet. Trailers are full sized.

If u run a flatbed/step/rgn . Company im with will take ur 2005 truck... can run the load boards. We have in house brokers, and agents all around the country. 75 percent of linehaul. 100 everything else. Office staff leaves u alone , run how ya want. Only owner op and lease purchase. About 250 drivers total . Lot of military and oversize stuff . Get paid the day after u send ur paperwork in.

If you have no skills in running a business, then just lease. If you are actually capable of communicating with other human beings and negotiating instead of just accepting posted rates or thinking you have to low ball them to stay moving, then get your own authority.

You cap your potential leasing onto a carrier. But it's a safer option for 99% of people going on their own because they have idea what they're doing to start with, a predatory lease lot just suckered them into paying $3,200 a month for a $30,000 truck with no money down. All they had to do was refinance their house to cover the starting costs.

Dont some people bring their own fully paid truck onto a Landstar, JB hunt, Schneider and take the split so that they dont have the huge overhead cost of the Authority? I guess what ever floats your boat. Neither one is right or wrong. I would only lease a truck if it was my last resort, im guessing that's what most do. Maybe its an option for many that have had some bad luck but actually want to make money and pay taxes instead of getting a handout. There are many scenarios for the many, we cant just assume.
