This sounds like a good method you have going on. Create a dummy bank account or something just so you get it deposited to. Once it is their if you have online text message banking slide it to your other or actual business account. I suppose this account will be low on funds alot of time as your often taking everything out of it. But as gokiddogo says with the paper check, just have whoever is at the house that you trust deposit it in your bank when the check comes in. They just will need the account number etc to do it.

I actually have accounts at local bank and then the other is more of a big national bank. The national is set up with higher limits Incase of repairs on the road.

You should really have a few accounts, and only fund those accounts from your main account that you NEVER give out. An ACH receiving, payroll, maintenance repair, etc account. It’s super easy to print legit checks with your account and routing numbers on it and steal all your money if you just use one account for everything and give those account numbers out or write a lot of checks from it.

I have several alerts set up on my bank account. I am notified by email (or text) whenever there is a withdrawal above my chosen limit ($100) and when my card is used online, by phone, or by mail. I have other alerts, but these two are the most common I receive. I also always go over my bank statements before I send my receipts to my bookkeeper.

To my knowledge, all banks provide protection for your money in case someone were to steal it. Last time I checked the amount was a bit over $100,000. The fraud needs to be reported within 3 months or so, but all banks are different. I use Bank of America.

I am also concerned about sharing my bank account information with anyone, but what concerns me even more is swiping (or handing over) my cards when I am working over the road. What I have been doing for about 2 years now is paying for almost everything in cash. I’m usually carrying $500-900 in a small coin pouch. (At first I thought it was embarrassing to be taking out this grandma pouch in front of the cashier, but I don’t care anymore.) I only use my card for large purchases (typically over $50) or Walmart.

The broker I’ve been working with pays the smaller loads with a express code. I have a MasterCard from comdata that I load the express code on and use it on the road.

I have shipper, and receiver sign a freight bill with Pro number at same time as BOL. Then write in rates, accessory charges. Except for sending my paperwork is done when the freight is unloaded. Then I can take a pic, scan or copy and mail it. No need to make a invoice. Here is a example from google similar to mine. freight-bill-of-lading-form-321.jpg

I hate credit cards, but I pay for everything with credit card now for the fraud protection. The cost of using credit card is baked in to everything we buy now so why not get the 1-3% cash back. I make sure I pay it off every month in full (I actually pay it weekly on line, I hate owing).

Before I got a fuel card I would have to prepay my fuel cause I would not leave my card with fuel desk to get pump turned on. Can't believe they want me to trust them with my $20,000 credit card because they don't trust me for $500-600 of fuel. Then I got came up with idea to give them a canceled and expired credit card and that worked like a charm. Now I have fuel card and only need a receipt from the fuel desk.

As far as getting paid, send me a check. I can wait.

I have them sign BOL and bring it home and do the same. Scan and email or fax or mail if needed.
