I had OOIDA file for my authority a few months ago. Everything been good. But what I need to know for my own records when things need to be filed. I don't mean things like 2290 and fuel tax I mean like the Mcs-150 and UCF(I paid it last month so I know about that). With the end of the year coming up I don't want to miss out on things.

I ask because I getting junk emails about my VMT or whatever being outdated and of course my UCF fees needing to be paid.

If I have a question like that I always call up and just ask for the authority Department. Sometimes they are hard to get on the phone but I think they'll call you back if you leave your number.

They are the best to get a hold of because they will definitively tell you what exactly you need to do or what you do not need to do and there's no fee for them to tell you that. Whatever your question is ask the receptionist and she'll connect you with the right Department.

For me I had a company that was harassing me and sending me threatening letters about the biennial update so I contacted ooida. They had previously told me how to file that so I called them and right while I was on the phone with them they went on the website and check and said no everything is fine that company is just trying to get you to pay them for something you don't need you're all set.

Especially with a new Authority you're going to get bombarded with phone calls and people sending you official looking things trying to get you scared and pay them.

OOIDA is the best money you can spend as an owner-operator as far as I'm concerned. If you're a member they'll even answer compliance questions, permit questions, or anything else that you need.

I put a bogus email and phone number on my MCS-150 to stop all the BS spam. Use a calendar (digital or paper) to keep track of when things are due.

If they set you up with your authority then they should have emailed you information. Just reply to the emails and see if anyone responds. Most of the time they will fairly quickly.

I had the complete opposite experience. Had them Do my authority. It’s been a pain. They don’t listen. They don’t answer emails. They forgot my DBA name and charged me to file the change. They argued with my state (PA) over a stupid email address. This was a 1.5 month long issue. It was registering with the PUC. I emailed the OOIDA girl who was handling this and she said she had multiple calls into the state. I found the emails from the beginning where she was arguing and emailed those state people on my own. I fixed it myself in one day.

For them claiming they know what they are doing, it was like they just started. Still don’t have my KYU permit. I did IFTA myself. Just an all around bad experience.

I hired them due to laziness. Figured they do it all the time so just let them handle it. I could have done it all myself and saved much aggravation. The process is simple as many here on TTR have posted. I shouldn’t have been lazy.

Could be because of the way Covid hit companies. I did mine at the end of 2018 and had a great experience with them. Never had any problems getting a hold of someone when calling and even better response when emailing.
