LOOK I will be frank, take this seriously. I'll keep this brief and add to that already said.

As said drivers are hard to find, it is the most time consuming PIA that an owner can deal with. Between the cracker-jack licensing system (read very easy) and the poor stock of drivers, it can take a few drivers and a few months if not longer to find someone who can drive the truck and take care of it. I've had drivers with a few "experienced" drivers apply and the idiots can't find where the dip stick is on the engine or can't read the oil level - not a good thing.

Then you have to deal with the finance end of it, you have to have a reserve fund, you have to deal with at least three months of operating expenses to be safe and the be prepared to be involved with BS issues between the driver and the carrier.

I would just sell it, I wouldn't think about getting into this unless you want to devote more time into getting it off the ground than it really is worth (you're not in the business but doing the passive thing) . Maybe invest into a rental home or four and collect rent (that's a lot easier) to produce a passive cashflow.

Thanks everyone. I find it funny about the tax write offs. I am a CPA and have my own practice (the business that inrun successfull). We have 3 rental properties and have a pretty medium size cleaning business that only cleans commercial accounts ( we have someone that runs that). My husband is an officer in the military and will retire in a few years at the age of 45. Who knows maybe he will drive it in a few years.

I do have some experience helping my dad, so I do know some of the requirements. One of his friends has decided to take the truck under his authority since he knew my father. He is charging me 15% and has a driver. Like I said it will be local driving only.

This forum is very good and appreciate all the feedback.

Better keep a close eye on your equipment. These guys ain't kidding about how difficult it is to find good help. Most good experienced help doesn't work for small independent outfits that can't afford to pay them good retirement, health, and dental benefits. Hopefully your truck doesn't get abused and torn up by some reject. You know what they say about a partnership? It's the only kind of ship that won't float. Ruined a many of friendships. Keep a close eye on things so you don't get taken for a ride by anyone, good luck.

It takes a hack less than a week to #### up a decent truck. Trust me I've seen it more than once.
