It really is ashame what has happened to the FRESH food biz nowadays--We hauled produce like that for years and did VERY WELL--course very few if any brokers back then--typically you either hauled for the buyer--or direct for the farm--if I had a dollar for everytime I left the LEFT COAST with a load with no real destination when I left--i would have retired in the islands years ago--It was ALWAYS--head out 40--dont pass Tucumcari(how we always cut up to midwest and Northeast--on 54)as farm sales/buyer made deals---Maybe ended up at point 5x w/out sale--usually deal done early Sunday sometime--and EVERYONE involved made more money.............I know even my wife tells me constantly--"You do realize it isnt 1975 anymore? right!" LOL

Sorry to hear about you being chubbed on the delivery. We put up with produce lumpers, union priks and these kinds of games for a while but after I sat 14 hours at a dock getting jerked around, and the amount of ingratiating I had to do to get unloaded, I swore we would never haul produce again and we didn't. Not worth it to me.
