Ok this is a "Lets assume Question" and I'm sure you all know it's not just for assumption....So, I start with this;
2005 Volvo VNL670 60" sleeper and a 2000 Great Dane trailer 2004 Thermo King Reefer 53' air ride
(November 2013) repairs included:
- brake shoes and drums
- brake chambers
- brake s-cams
- shocks
- muffler
- exhaust pipe
- lube and oil
there are more parts already replaced ...Truck is fully registered and insured and currently on the road working and making money
- turbo
- jake brake
- starter
- alternator
- a/c compressor
- drive tires
- steer tires
- windshield
- power steering pressure hose
Here's the set up; If a guy with little experience could buy this unit for under 25k w/ trailer, is it a good deal? Can he make $$$$ doing it? What would that trk need to turn per mile before making money, how many miles a week would he need to run?...Fuel, payment, maintenance etc...

Is that running the Cummins?
Mine ran ISX and while it was an excellent engine, it has two downfalls- the biggest being the wire harness and a moderate PITA is the jake.
But for the minor problems I experienced with those two issues it more than made up for it in a lot of other areas.
EDIT-Also, why are you wanting to go O/O with less than a years experience in this field?TAC12 Thanks this. -
Under $25k including the trailer? I'd take that deal every day.

Grizzly
Yes it includes the 53' reefer unit......I thought it was pretty sweet but then again Im a newbie and just wanted to see if one (newbie) could make $$$ doing it...Jumping in with both feet from the pan to the fire but you cant open the parachute without jumping from the plane...lol...I just wanted to see how much that truck would cost before making money -
Before you buy a truck, be it this truck or any other truck, have a job for it. Have a plan in place, contacts made, know what your going to do with it.
This truck may be a good deal, maybe not. The proof of a good truck is often in what you cannot see.Have an oil analysis performed.
If it were on the road and " MAKING MONEY" , I do not see it being offered like that. Unless you have inside deal.
Can you make money with this truck > probably, but that is more dependent on your business plan than the truck. Anybody can buy a truck, fewer can take it and go to trucking and make a good living.cabwrecker, Elroythekid and TAC12 Thank this. -
Exactly what jbatmick said above. Don't read any farther , do your homework, both on the truck and the business plan.
TAC12 Thanks this. -
Sounds like a good deal but have some money in the bank just in case something goes wrong. I made that mistake and it screwed me.
TAC12 Thanks this.
