Take Schneider or Prime for example, both of them you can lease onto.. they pay % and they also train noobs to be company drivers.
Does any of these type of companies allow you to be leased on and train noobs?
If so do you still get your full rate of % on loads complated? Any extra for training?
Looked around but haven't found much info on this...
Just curious
Owner Operator leased onto a company that trains noobs, can you train also? How so?

question is, why in the world would you do that is ya owned the truck??? if ya have to take a trainee to make it, ya got problems.exhausted379 Thanks this.
-
not to "make it" but to make a whole lot more
If the training company pays the noob then basically you've gone into a team operation without having to pay the team co-driver yourself.
You collect all the money the noob drives for you.
Sure you'll have to train them but you gain an free extra clock sitting next to you. Sounds like an interesting idea. -

So you want to take "YOUR" truck.........and put a "noob" in the seat?? Babysit, train, etc.....watch him hone his shifting on YOU gears?? Etc, etc, etc.........your nuts. Period.
exhausted379, crzyjarmans and DocHoof Thank this. -
that defeats the objective of owning a truck, the trick is the most revenue for the least amount of miles.
your thought on this is based on a mileage mentality of where the more miles you run the more you make. its the lease purchase way of doing business.
as I said it defeats the purpose of being an owner/opMilktanker, SMTatham and exhausted379 Thank this. -
Companies take THEIR trucks and put noobs in them and pay driver to train to noobs.... WHY???
Because it makes the company a whole lotta money! That's why they do it.
Why wouldn't you as a "business owner" consider other ideas to make more money?
It's not being nuts.. that's being smart in considering other ideas to expand your bottom line. -
Maybe you didn't read the post...
I didn't mention the word "lease purchase" nor running a lot of miles... that's the point of %
Having an extra free clock next to you seems like an interesting idea to make a lot more money. -
Ah, but they aren't really their trucks, are they? Most training companies lease trucks and turn them in every 3 years or so...SMTatham Thanks this.

You didn't have to "mention" it..............your line of thinking INDICATES it. If you are funning fewer miles "on %" as you say..........you don't NEED a "fresh clock" sitting next to you. Start thinking before you type.....there MAY just be some people out here who have been doing this a day or two longer than you who have a clue.
