when the truck stops you don't make any money, it's a way to keep the truck moving without having to pay the driver next to you.
It's a team operation but with a free driver next to you.
    More loads means more $

basically it's cheap labor, truck companies find ways to take advantage of cheap labor all the time to make them more money.
It's just an idea thinking along the same lines.

Of the billions of posts and questions I've never seem this question come up, I'm just curious ya'll need to calm your tits.

    wow okay here we go

I'm not ranting and raving saying I know it all and being egotistical, I was simply curious and asking questions.
I'd hope experienced drivers would be more respectful and mature to someone being curious and asking questions...

People in general look down to us truck drivers, it's a shame truck drivers aren't respectful to their fellow drivers as well.

And I would hope a new owner/op would heed good advice. You seem to want to argue no matter what that your idea is good when in fact it is not. See; the respectful thing works both ways.

except that the trainee has to be paid out of someone's pocket. and that's usually the truck, aka o/o.

I'm not trying to argue, I'm simply asking questions.
There is something I don't understand and I want to try and understand it.

Ya'll are poo pooing the idea but I still don't understand because ya'll haven't answered the money question about it all.

If you have a free clock/driver next to you how is that a bad thing?
Sure you'll have to babysit them and they will grind your gears in more ways than one.. I understand that.

However you will be running as a team operation and can make more use out of the truck thus make more money.
If you actually lose money by doing this, please elaborate,

FYI I'm just a company driver with no interest to jump into being an O/O or lease.. etc.
Sure it appears very appealing but I know I don't know enough nor have enough money saved yet to consider it.

I don't know the answer to that question, that's why I'm asking it.

For example I am a company driver for Crete, trainers here get paid for ALL miles the truck goes plus an extra $125 a week on top of that.

Say for example you are leased to Schneider, They pay % to O/O and they train noobs also .
If you the O/O trains a Schneider noob .. you are training the driver to be a future company driver to be employed by Schneider not you.
So wouldn't Schneider be paying the noob while you're training them? They'd still get getting a % of all loads anyway.

    1) I run open deck freight. In my arena.....zero need for a team. 2) I am interested in REVENUE; not miles. All a team does is put miles on quick. This MAY work for other types of freight; but sure wouldn't for me. 3) MOST owner ops are really quite picky about their equipment; and using it as a training vehicle for a complete stranger is NOT a consideration. 4) Nothing is ever free, not even trainees.
