I never had problems getting reefer freight out of Florida. Never stuck there even one time. The company got reefer freight from CH Robinson. The company I drove for used CH Robinson because the trucks never had to sit waiting for a load.

I think you are right. Reefers are more suitable trailers down there. At least, you have a few months of melons to haul out of there for decent money.

I hauled lots of produce out of South Florida; the Everglades.
Several refrigerated orange juice companies and there's also Juicy-Juice which is dry loads.
One time I hauled a load of tomatoes out of Florida to California. Then another load of tomatoes back to Florida from California. I was told they were two different types of tomatoes.

My stepson acquired his CDL while in the Navy SeaBees.
His first job after the Navy was hauling seafood from Florida to the West Coast. He'd have like 5 stops from Florida to California. He'd load produce out of California back to Florida.

There a "Pacific Tomato" about a mile from the home 20. Skateboards bring them in, in double stacked plastic totes. Then trucked out by reefer..

Not a one reefer (red dots) there apparently when the satellite went over. White totes stack up to the east.. (white dot)

There's hardly any money coming out of my state. But plenty coming in. I stay out 3-5 weeks depending on my mood and the weather. I'm home for five days. Then spend whatever time I need to fix the truck and start over. If thats what you wanna do you can make it work. Just think it thru. We didn't get here by accident

Exactly. 1 poor outbound paying load per month doesn't hurt you.
