Like others have said, the O/O truck drivers should support the O/O truck stops. Stay away from the major chains and invest in the small owners. Why would an O/O driver compalin about cheap freight and yet fuel up and eat at a TA, J, Pilot? Thats a little hypocritical.

You know the more I think about it, locally owned & operated truck stops or even owners that have 12- 15 should try to create a national finder list completely separate from the idiot super chain stuff.

The funny part is, the mega chains would probably sell the finder list in a booklet if they could make a nickel off of it...

When the O/O truckstop is charging more for fuel than the major brands what do you do? I'm in this business to make money not support overpriced truckstops, regardless of who owns them.... sorry.

i thought flying j's used to be mainly for owner operator's but now that pilot took them over they have the highest priced fuel and all the big fleets are fueling there now so I wont fuel there anymore

  6. Not arguing or anything, just curious. What made you think that Flying J was mainly for the owner operator??

Flying J used to be about the only truck stop around here, so everybody used it. There are a couple of smaller ones now, but good luck trying to get into them to pay $.15 more for fuel. I guess I haven't noticed what you have, since the Flying J here seems to be packed with freaking everybody.

the one in Elk Run Heights, IA was the one i mainly fueled at and i completely understand what your saying granted there were some bigger companies in the J but it always seemed like you found more owner operators at the J then you did anywhere else i will say i was wrong saying that they were mainly owner operator truck stops but in my opinion i thought there more o/o here than any other truck stops but by all means correct me if im wrong, im all about listening to somebody else's take

  8. OK, I gotcha. Around here, I think there are just more owner operators, or company guys driving for very small fleets that can make them look like o/o's.

Now that you say it that way, though, I do see fewer of the big training companies in there when I am there at 4:00 every other morning.

ya im not saying no big companies fuel there but you would never see a schneider, jb, swift etc there which gave it more of the owner operator look but now that pilot took over thats all out the window i look for the more mom and pop truck stops now

So you want it all as long as it doesn't cost you any more to get it. You want to buy the cheapest fuel and that means the mega corp truck stops. BUT, you ##### about low paying loads because the mega trucking companies cut prices! Whats interesting is that the mom and pops truck stops are also O/Os, and by going to the corp truck stops you are putting the small guy out of buisness, the very same thing we complain about the Swifts, Werners, Schneider of doing to us. Double standard and hypocritical.
