i run hot shot runs now out of houston,tx and its been slow over the last 5 years my pay keeps going down i use to make $5-8,k a week but now its down to $2,k to the truck most weeks to $3,800 on a good week but thats not alote of weeks. Im home almost 90% of the time. I make good money running out loaded but never come back with a load
So far this year im making about $10,k a month and have run 23,000 miles this year
What kind of money yall make out there and how long yall run out
Who would yall lease to i get mad talking to all the brokers on the load bords and most the time some thing is wrong with the loads.

2nd is you have to have hazmat endorsement in 9 years i have only seen one load i could not haul because i didnt have it not worth it to me
3rd they get $$ % of your money and you have to find your own loads dont sound that good to meSkunk_Truck_2590 Thanks this. -
Well i dunno much about flatbed freight but being based out of TX ourselves we typically stay out for awhile then spend a good week or two at home.
So if you have your own signs you might look into dabbling in other parts of the country for 3 to 4 weeks and head home.
Rates out here in TX are ridiculous. I keep hearing about this high dollar oilfield freight especially the bulk tanks but the rates i hear never add up in my opinion.
When i used to run for a hot shot out of Midland we ran to Houston all the time loaded and empty back. I drove for a shady operation called boomerang trucking last time i went by the yard they still had trucks. Also G and J from snyder have alot of trucks around the area to. -
Are you leased to someone? I know the hotshot business has a lot of competition in your area but isn't the oilfield still booming down their? It is here in Oklahoma and they say it is suppose to be good for at least the next five years.2time Thanks this. -

Can you haul regular freight or is your trailer only able to run light loads?
My dad has been doing good with his step deck and when they don't want to pay, he just runs steel bars and coils. -
ATS is looking for guys in the Houston area. Saw an add in a magazine this week. Not sure how they are to work for tho, just noticed them cuz I have been thinking about going to step-deck as well.
BTW, do you really need more than $10k a month??? And is that $10k your making PRE fuel or after fuel?? -
SHC Thanks this.
