Or lease one to a reputable carrier. Plenty of helpful people on this site if you ask for the help

Why does she limit to CH Robinson. Plenty of work out there. I try to do for myself what she does for you. It is nice to have a trip routed out a week or even sometimes a couple weeks.
Why do you limit yourself to 40,000#. Lot of loads you miss. Could be the difference of a couple g a week.
Your question about the 10% depends on the agreement you have. If my agreement said I get 10% of all pay. That would mean all money received for your services. Including 10% of the Fuel Surcharge IF its included in the rate not described separately in the Rate confirmation.
IF you don't like that arrangement, negotiate another contract. Learn from your experience. Good luck -
It sounds like the OP answered one of those craigslist ads looking for o/o's. The authority holder is just looking to get their 10% running their "home based business". The OP probably pays the full insurance cost as well. Why people lease to companies without freight of their own baffles me. The reason the carrier uses CHRW is that they pay by direct deposit in two days for a low fee, which the OP is most likely paying. As far as taking revenue, that should all be spelled out in your contract, you have one right? I would quickly find a new company to lease to. One that has their own freight, is reputable and pays by percentage, and doesn't have dispatchers.

I'm willing to bet this company he is leased to is owned by someone who partners with someone who works at CHR as a broker. Possibly husband owns the authority, wife books the loads from work, they make double the money. That's why they pay "90%" because it's "90%" of whatever rate they con the driver into taking.
At 90% you should be grossing at least $5800 a week I'd say, even after the 10%.
