    Trucking never gets less regulation....

Don’t use politics as a excuse, just say the time is wrong for you.....

Two facts. Fact one, diesel prices will go up - the executive orders are already flying. Fact two, business taxes will go up - that was promised.

40 years ago it would be a lot more doable than today and even back then it was risky. My dad bought his 1st truck and did it never being a company driver. Had to pinch pennies but he made it work. Today tho not a chance in hell

Doable? Potentially with luck and intelligence. Probable? I don't think so, there's too much involved with the business.

Like I said not a chance in hell. By chance if someone does succeed today it's luck or they come from money with cash burning a hole in their pocket. And still would go broke most likely not knowing the business side.

I'd be interested if the business broke them, or the insurance claims. Hell, I've been in and around the industry since I was a kid, and I'm still scared with jumping in the way I just did.

I didn’t do trucking school. Read the prep books to past the dmv requirements, paid a guy 1k for a week to prep me for the drive test and to use his truck and trailer. Got licensed and went to work for my family’s fleet. Never been a company driver, straight to O/O and lemme tell you, without my family putting me on game and guiding me through the business end - I’d still be welding.

    Start up/repair money (50k min)
Savings for slow times (6 months bills)
    2 debit cards (25k each)
1 high limit credit (20k+) (emergency extra)
    Put AWAY money each month

I could go on and on with opinions I have on securing yourself in this business, but this is all just ideal thinking, usually it takes a couple major repairs that nuke your securities until you’ve got a solid truck, then a couple years of good savings (if the single truck is your only income)

if you’re single w/o kids, do it. I’m 26 with three kids and married, don’t know if I would’ve done it without my family’s guidance

Wouldn't even consider starting a business now ...let alone one you know very little about .
